8 EFFECTIVE WAYS TO STAY PRODUCTIVE AT WORK

Let’s face it, not every day do we feel motivated to work and to finish our long list of tasks we need to accomplish. Being unproductive is a common problem that we face in our day-to-day work life and this is caused by a lot of different factors. But, we have to keep in mind that being unproductive will also result to unpleasant results that will surely affect you negatively, one way or another.

We have prepared a list below of some tips we can adapt and use to keep us motivated and finish assigned tasks.

  1. Make a list of all the tasks you need to accomplish every night/before clocking out of work

Allot a few minutes before you clock out and call it a day to take down all the tasks you need to do the following day. This will keep you motivated to work the next day since you already have an idea on how your day will go about. Listing all your tasks will also give you a good start the next day instead of cramming upon arriving in the office.

  1. Always start with the most important tasks

Start with the most important to the least important. By doing this and by ticking of the most important task from your list, you will feel a sigh of relief and will be motivated to do all the other smaller tasks.

  1. Cut down your to-do list

10 tasks in a day or 20 tasks, it doesn’t matter. Once you tick off tasks from your list, it will give you a productivity boost and will keep you motivated to finish more tasks.

  1. Avoid multi-tasking

Although multi-tasking seems like you are finishing more tasks, in reality, it is actually slowing you down and preventing you from finishing one task. Focus on one task first, finish it, then move on to the next. If you ever find yourself doing another tasks while already doing something else, remember that you are now trying to finish two different tasks at a time and by doing this, there is a big chance that you won’t be able to finish any of the two.

  1. Take breaks

Be kind to yourself and take breaks in between. A quick stretch or eating a snack will give you energy to continue with finishing your list. Give your eyes some time to rest from the screen and your body to move. Seating down and staying in front of the screen for too long will take a toll on your health.

  1. Eat a full meal before your day starts

Always try to eat a good meal before starting your day of. Eggs, oats, fruit, yogurt, or any healthy meal you have in your fridge. Hunger is our worst enemy and this can make you feel tired, unmotivated, and distracted before you even start your day.

  1. Always make your workspace tidy and clean

When your desk is full of unnecessary things or papers and files are all over, you will feel unmotivated and distracted and certainly, you will struggle to start your to-do lists. Make sure that your desk is organized before you start your day.

  1. Put away things that will distract you

Your phone is probably that one factor that keeps you from finishing all your tasks. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, all these social media platforms are distracting you. Take your phone away from your desk or leave it in your bag. You will notice that without your phone near you, you will tick a lot more off your to-do list.

It is very important to be productive all the time, yet it is also pretty normal to feel unmotivated on some days. But do not let this get ahead of you. Always get back on track and finish that list!
